Just another nice to have? Think again.

A website isn’t just nice to have, it’s a necessity for any growing business since over 50% of the global population is online. The online space offers many comforts that can’t be found venturing out. Hello scrolling in my PJs all day! In terms of getting information, people come to expect that they can get any and all questions answered online, have you Googled lately? Another benefit is that people can get this information any time of the day any day of the week. Why does this matter to you as a small business owner?

Go where the people are.

Simply put there are people looking for your business and you’re looking for people. Online is one of the best ways to make connections happen. Imagine with me, you have a cute little cafe in a hip downtown area serving up the frothiest lattes and to-die-for buttery croissants. You get quite a bit of foot traffic from those in the area, but what about those new customers from a few cities away. Think about their journey before becoming one of your best customers.

Are you winning or losing out on potential customers?

Let’s say they happen to be driving down the street on the way to another engagement and see your cafe. They’re intrigued and think, “That seems like a place I’d like to try out. Let me see what they’re about.” They head to Google and type in the name of your cafe. What comes up?

Now if you’re not thinking about all of the ways your customer comes in contact with you then, they’ll find nothing, and visiting you becomes a distant memory. Visiting you is a nice-to-do but not a necessity.

On the other hand, if you were thinking about your customer journey, they’ll find your website and discover what you offer your personal mission and approach (we use the finest ingredient, locally sourced), hours of operation, and contact information. As a result of investing in setting up a website for your business, you’ve scored not only this new customer but countless others. You made a connection that wouldn’t have been possible in the real world and are regularly getting a return on your investment in your website.

So why do you need a website? TLDR version:

  • Connect with customers
  • Build credibility by telling your story
  • Provide convenience for current and future customers
  • Make sales

A website is only a piece of the puzzle for your business. A great website that addresses these four whys doesn’t just pop up. There’s a ton of strategy and purpose placed into making sure that a website is easy to use, informative, high-converting, and a part of a complete brand experience.
